The Renaud Otten Team has just finished a “going green” program in an effort to ensure that our business is as environmentally friendly as possible.

Here are some tips on “greening” your Kanata area home:

  1. Plant a tree  – planting a beautiful shade tree in your yard has many benefits.  It looks great!  It can really reduce your cooling costs by as much as 25%.  It can even reduce heating costs by up to 20% by shielding your home from cold winds.  How about an apple tree?  Then, you can even get some pies out of the deal!  But, remember to plant 2 apple trees, otherwise they won’t bear any fruit.
  2. Program your thermostats – set your programmable thermostat while you are sleeping or at work and save 10% on your heating and cooling costs.  This can really add up!  In the summer, set your thermostat to 25 Celcuis or higher and in the winter, set it to 17 Celcius or lower.  This will cause your furnace to turn on less frequently, thereby, reducing your consumption and, in return, your bills!
